There are two main types of hair transplants. During hair transplantation, the surgeon removes the follicles from thick hair areas, such as the back of the head, which they call the donor area. The follicles are then implanted in small parts in the affected scalp area. Below are the 2 main transplantations based on the way hair follicles are extracted:-

Follicular unit strip surgery or Follicular unit Transplantation (FUSS or FUT): The surgeon removes a piece of skin from the donor area and closes the area with stitches. They then use a microscope to divide the donor skin into small follicular units containing one or more hair follicles and place it in the desired area.
